Latest Update: Volvo has recently updated the XC90 for 2022 and it now comes with a new mild hybrid powertrain that features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. However, this model is yet to reach Singapore and for now, the XC90 is available in Momentum and R-Design trims and starts from S$ 259,000.

Volvo XC90 Engine and Mileage: The Momentum model is hauled by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 252PS maximum power and 350Nm peak torque and returns a mileage of around 12.7kmpl. The R-Design trim has the same motor but outputs 320 PS maximum power and 400 Nm peak torque and returns a mileage of 12.5 kmpl. Both trims have 8-speed automatic transmission.

Credited to start the new design language that the brand carries in its current generation models, the Volvo XC90 was first introduced in 2016. To date, the car remains one of the best offerings by the brand, thanks to the exquisite styling feature and the plethora of features provided in the luxury SUV. The model has been revamped for 2020 and sports a new grille that matches seamlessly with the revised front bumper of the car.
Interestingly, the revised styling also follows up to XC90’s wheels. The other minor improvements comprise a minor tweak with low-profile roof rails and integrated tailpipes. Lastly, it presents a delicate balance between luxury and sportiness with its lineup that comprises of a hybrid as well.

Moving inside, the XC90 gets a well-designed cabin that represents the need for space in its truest form. The car presents a quality upholstery wrapped around in Nappa leather and real wood trim. Volvo has surely worked around the comfort of the occupants as it provides enough room to carry seven in the three-rows.
Talking of the infotainment, it gets a vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen that is integrated to perform the majority of the XC90's systems and settings. With easy smartphone pairing, users can easily use the Apple and Android play in the car. The interiors of the XC90 also get a 12.3-inch screen that serves as a digital gauge cluster.

The already appealing XC90 just gets better for 2020. The SUV presents a revised styling approach with a standard grille which represents the Volvo badge. The design has been improvised across the lineup of the new XC90 as its R-Design picks up a gloss-black variant wrapped up in matte silver and chrome finish. Complimenting the brand’s signature grille are Thor's Hammer LED headlights that come accompanied with a set of foglights placed in the lower bumper of the car. The car now rides on 19-inch wheels with sizing options to 20 or 21-inches.
The car also resonates with the need for space in its styling. The compact seven-seater SUV stands at 195 inches. The car stands at 79.1 inches in terms of its width, 69.9 inches in terms of length. The three-row SUV starts at 4,1,980 kgs, making it lighter than most other premium rivals.

The base model, T5 Momentum features a 2.0L, 4-cylinder DOHC, producing 250 hp of power, channeling the power to the front-wheel drive.
The second option is a more powerful T6 variant that is supercharged. The supercharged engine results in a total power output of 316 hp besides producing 400 Nm of peak torque. The third option is a 400 hp plug-in hybrid that comprises of a T6 powertrain with two electric motors.
In terms of mileage, the combined average of petrol and hybrid variants is 9.3 km per litre besides added 27 kms for the hybrid.
