Volvo S60

As has been the tradition with all the Volvo cars, the new Volvo S60 shares its cabin layout with the new generation Volvos on sale, most preferably with the Volvo XC 40 compact SUV. While the Momentum variant comes with a dual-tone black and beige upholstery, the R-Design gets the all-black upholstery option for accentuating its sporty appeal.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with rounded rectangular centre boss and silver wrapped around it and the spokes make up for a premium cockpit, along with the full TFT instrument console. The broad centre console houses a vertically laid touchscreen infotainment system, along with equally long vertical AC vents on both of its sides. The infotainment system also is a home for the controls for the dual-zone automatic climate control.

Below the infotainment system flows a silver finished layer, which extends all the way across the width of the dashboard, giving it a nice contrast appeal. The cabin is packed with all the modern and luxurious features one can expect from a car of this class, with no dearth of any kind of feature.

At the back, the new Volvo S60 gets Volvo’s new tail lamp design, with the all-LED units being C-shaped with a characteristic kink in the middle. The upper portion of the tail lamps extends beautifully towards the centre, with the Volvo lettering embossed in a broad manner on the centre of the boot lid.

While the Volvo S69 isn’t aimed for driving enthusiasts, it provides decent levels of driving dynamics and comfort on offer. Like in almost all the luxury cars on offer, the Volvo S60 also has multiple drive modes – comfort, eco, and dynamic, which provides customised feedback from the chassis as and when required.

The Volvo S60 has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, which is available in two states of tune. The Momentum variant has its engine with a power output of 190 PS and 300 Nm of torque, while in the R-Design variant, the same engine produces 250 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, with all-wheel drive as standard in the latter. An 8-speed automatic transmission is common to both the engines.

A perennial of safety in its segment, the Volvo S60 gets a host of safety features with inclusions like pilot assist, adaptive cruise control, distance alert, oncoming lane mitigation, oncoming mitigation by braking, city safety with steering support, lane-keeping aid, run off-road mitigation, road sign information, speed limiter, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist with automatic hold, ABS with EBD and brake assist and front, side and curtain airbags.
