Introduced as an upgrade to the 3 Series, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is a stylish and agile luxury car. The stylish coupe comes with the added practicality of four doors and generous boot space. This five-door luxury car from BMW will soon be updated for the Singapore market. It is expected that the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will get a 48V mild-hybrid system for 2021. As of now, this high-performance car from the German automaker is available at a starting price of $ 194,888. The mid-life revision of the 4-Series Gran Coupe presented minor cosmetic tweaks and a slight adjustment to the suspension. The suspension setup is stiffer, better to deal with cornering forces while improving all-around road holding. The facelift also featured a number of standard features, such as full LED headlights, digital instrumentation, and the latest ConnectedDrive functions (seen in the 5-Series). The 4 Series Gran Coupe has an elegant design - its front end is sleek, thanks to its slim headlights, while the wide rear end manages to avoid looking heavy. The cabin is BMW-familiar, with an updated iDrive system in place. The base variant of the Gran Coupe, the 420i Sport, is powered by a 4-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 181 HP max power and 270 Nm peak torque. It competes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon, the Jaguar XE, the Audi A4 Sedan, the Volvo S90 and the Kia Stinger.
Stepping inside the 4 Series Gran Coupe will immediately remind you of the bigger 5 Series and the 7 Series. The plush interior flaunts premium quality and latest technology. The steering wheel is wrapped in premium quality leather, that offers a better grip to the driver. All the multi-function buttons are mounted on the steering. The latest version of BMW's iDrive infotainment system, together with the updated digital instrument cluster and ConnectedDrive functions, has been added as standard to this car. Additionally, the instrument panel gets double stitching while the new electroplated detailing and chrome applications place emphasis on the overall high-quality feel of the car.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe looks sleek and sporty. At the front, you get the typical kidney grille, sleek LED headlight cluster, LED fog lamps and wide air inlets for optimized aerodynamics and sporting appeal; the long, sculpted bonnet add to the dynamic looks of the Gran Coupe. One can get the Adaptive LED headlights, as an option, which adjust their light distribution according to speed and steering angle. The rear also receives LED taillights and a dual exhaust pipe. Apart from the fact that the 4 Series Gran Coupe is 12mm taller than the 4 Series Coupe, both cars actually share the same dimensions. Even their front and rear tracks are identical.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe feels immediately sportier than the 3 Series, despite its added dimensions and weight. With a stiffer suspension now, double wishbones at the front and multi-link at the rear, the Gran Coupe offers better corner carving and a strong sense of stability that instils a whole lot of confidence to the driver. The optional variable steering improves the steering accuracy to provide easy maneuvering around tight curves and placing it on narrower roads without any difficulties. The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system smoothly and variably distributes drive power to the front and rear wheels for maximum traction.
Powering the base variant, the 420i Sport, is a 4-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 181 hp max power and 270 Nm peak torque. This power is transferred to the wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission setup. The Automatic Start/Stop function switches off the engine when the vehicle comes to a temporary standstill to save fuel. Moreover, with the help of the Driving Experience Control, the driver can choose between different driving modes - the standard Comfort mode, the more efficient EcoPro mode, the Sport and the Sport+ modes.
Ventilated disc brakes at both the ends perform braking duties on the 4 Series Gran Coupe. The safety features of the 4 Series Convertible includes passenger airbag, side airbag-front, driver airbag, anti-lock braking system, brake assist, EBD, rear seat belts, seat belt warning, day and night rearview mirror, height-adjustable front seat belts, rear camera, parking sensors, crash sensor, engine check warning, front impact beams, side-impact beams, door ajar warning, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and roll-over protection system.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe is a usable and versatile five-door coupe that is able to serve you on a daily basis without any fuss. A tad more expensive than its rivals, but this coupe is indeed promising when it comes to the overall driving experience. Plus, the latest 2021 model, hopefully with an array of latest features and advancements, is soon expected to reach the Singapore shores.
I am using the BMW 4-series-gran-coupe for three years, and the handling is still very smooth, the weight distribution is perfectly balanced, and the suspension is pretty decent. I feel so safe on round edges because of the low center of gravity. The high-tech interior and leather-finish seats give it a premium look. The engine is extremely powerful, gives its
I like everything about the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, the best possession I ever had. It has an unforgettable design and I love it when people turn back to admire the car on the road or in the parking lot. But let me get to the best part of the car. I own the 420i xDrive model and I
