The Mercedes Benz CLA-Class Coupe might be small and compact in size, but it surely is high on visual appeal and panache, which is one of its core strengths. Based on the A-Class, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe is available in Singapore in a single standard petrol automatic variant CLA 200 Progressive, which will set you back by $1,73,888.
On the inside too, things have changed dramatically, and the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe now follows the German car maker’s common design philosophy, making it look as exuberant and luxurious as other elder siblings of it.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe too now gets the common for a Mercedes-Benz combination of a multifunctional steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls and a large 10.25-inch full TFT coloured instrument console.
The screen behind is adjoined by another 10.25-inch full TFT touchscreen infotainment system, which is embedded with the latest version of MBUX for the most intuitive experience. The Artico leather upholstery as well as 64-coloured ambient lighting only adds to the vibrant experience of the car on the inside.
The other elements of the dashboard, such as three round propeller-like AC vents and minimalist looking buttons for the automatic climate control look so nice and futuristic.
Mercedes-Benz has evolved the overall styling of the CLA-Class Coupe, which has made the already curvy design language of the car even fancier and futuristic. The curvaceousness of the overall design now meets the sleekness of various elements, which makes it look even more beautiful than ever before.
For instance, the front fascia of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe. The scooped in front grille now looks larger than before and gets a bigger Mercedes-Benz logo in the middle, positioned in between a running streak. The high performance LED headlamps are now slimmer than before too and are designed like a tooth in a sweptback manner, with inverted L-shaped daytime running LEDs on their outer boundaries. However, not much has changed in the design of the large air dams on the front bumper, which continue to add aggression to the front profile of the car.
The best angle to look at the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe has always been the side profile, which too has undergone some subtle tweaks, such as new design for the alloy wheels and door-mounted rearview mirrors. The curves on the side doors are smoother now, while the car continues to get a rounded roofline and wheel arches.
It is the rear profile that has gone under the knife the most. With bigger yet slimmer LED tail lamps at the back, the license plate housing has moved down to the rear bumper, giving a clean appeal to the boot lid.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is blessed with Dynamic Select program which offers four different drive modes to choose from. This, along with the taut suspension and steering setups, does make the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe a driver’s delight. However, when it comes to comfort, the rear seats feel a bit cramped, which only feels even more uncomfortable for longer rides with the slightly stiffer ride quality it offers.
For the Singaporean market, Mercedes-Benz has made the CLA-Class Coupe available with only one petrol automatic powertrain in a single CLA 200 variant. The engine in question is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor, which is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. The engine pumps out a maximum power output of 163 PS and a peak torque output of 250 Nm.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe shows no compromise on safety standards and is heavily kitted with bits like the front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD, active brake assist, active parking assist with PARKTRONIC, reverse parking sensors with camera, tire pressure monitoring system and active bonnet for pedestrian protection.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Coupe might not be a highly practical option like other saloons from the carmaker, with a very cramped rear seat experience and stiffer ride quality over irregular surfaces. But for the style and luxury it offers in and out, it surely makes for a great lifestyle product, to begin with.
The Mercedes-Benz holds a powerful engine which has been more fascinating to me. I have loved the interior part of this car. It includes upscale interiors with many technical features and a high LED headlamp for great visibility and appeal. I have been using the car for one year now and it has never let me down. The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class
The Mercedes-Benz CLA is already a very attractively designed sedan among the cars at this price-point. But that’s not the end of the story here. Even I own a CLA, but it is the coupe version, which is eventually the best designed car I have ever seen. The coupe appeals visually and every angle looks amazing, even the rear with
