Toyota Urban Cruiser: First Impression
Toyota is all set to introduce a new compact SUV, called the Urban Cruiser. Currently, the car is limited to the Indian market, but with Toyota's strong presence in the local market, it won't be wrong to expect the Urban Cruiser's arrival in Singapore. Whether or not it makes it to our market, it is always exciting to know about a new offering (given that we are an enthusiast).
Toyota India has opened the bookings for the Urban Cruiser, and the compact SUV's arrival is expected any day now. The Japanese automaker is up in the game promoting the car on various digital platforms, given the pandemic situation and gatherings restrictions. Without further adieu, let's dig in Toyota Urban Cruiser's first impression.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Design
The Urban Cruiser, like its name, features a very urban, upscale look. At some angles, especially from the front, the compact SUV reminds us of the Fortuner. Part of the exterior design and functionality kit are following -
- Two-slat wedge cut dynamic grille
- Dual-chamber LED projector headlamps
- Dual function LED DRL-cum-indicator
- LED fog lamps with chrome & trapezoidal case
- Split LED tail lamps
- LED high-mounted stop lamp
- 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels
So, a full LED lighting kit, bling wheels, and so much more. All enough to make it a true head-turner, and it has a strong SUV aura around it.
Toyota Urban Cruiser exterior colour options: Sunny White, Iconic Grey, Suave Silver, Rustic Brown, Spunky Blue, Groovy Orange, Rustic Brown With Sizzling Black Roof, Groovy Orange With Sunny White Roof, and Spunky Blue With Sizzling Black Roof.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Interior
Recently the Japanese automaker revealed the Urban Cruiser's cabin that in pictures looked quite comforting. The seats and door trim are wrapped in dark brown fabric upholstery, which we believe are fine. It features the standard Toyota steering wheel with controls for media, volume, cruise control, etc. The dashboard features dark textured plastics and silver trims; the same setup appears on the door panels.

Toyota made sure that the Urban Cruiser is decently equipped with even the entry-level trim packed reasonably well. Included in Urban Cruiser specs list are following standard features -
- Push-button engine start/stop

Also, part of the offering are -

Toyota Urban Cruiser Engine
Toyota's latest compact SUV will sport a powerful K-series 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The said unit can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, depending on the variant. Also, all the Urban Cruiser models offer superior mileage for a power-packed performance.
Further, the AT variants will come equipped with advanced Li-ion batteries with ISG.
