Toyota Sienta

The Toyota Sienta has a very upmarket and funky looking cabin, despite its entry-level positioning, which makes the onlooker’s interest in it even more involving. The cabin has a decent build quality and unique theme finished completely in a dual-tone black and brown upholstery theme.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel has got a huge trapezoidal centre boss here, which along with the theatre like wide instrument console positioned slightly forward, makes for an interesting driver’s cockpit.

This layered theme for the instrument console is extended towards the centre console as well. It gets an asymmetrical design consisting of a trapezoidal housing for the rectangular touchscreen infotainment system above and the same but inverted design for the automatic climate control panel, with AC vents sandwiched in between. The centre console smoothly flows down towards the transmission lever. 

The co-passenger side of the dashboard too looks very different with a mix-up of multiple layers and curves, consisting of the lower positioned glovebox and cup holder.

Toyota knows how to make smart and sophisticated looking MPVs, but with the Sienta, it has taken an altogether different route. The Toyota Sienta is a very funky looking MPV, which can outrun many other cool looking hatchbacks and sedans with its chic and urban styling which looks totally out of the box.

The Toyota Sienta has a sloping front end, which gets curved headlamps that have konk on their outer edges. These headlamps have boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs on their outer edges and projector bulbs to complete the modern look.

From the outer edges of the headlamp, there is a slim black curve flowing all the way down to the fog lamp assembly, which houses small round fog lamps. These fog lamps are connected to each other via a thin air dam on the front bumper.

The front grille on the Toyota Sienta is shaped in an inverted trapezoidal way, with a long V-shaped chrome garnish and Toyota logo sitting in the upper middle portion of it.

The side profile of the Toyota Sienta continues the funkiness with black coloured pillars, door-mounted rearview mirrors, V-shaped moulding at the bottom of the rear door, and a characteristic looking curved theme for the rear door which scoops down just below the C-pillar. The rear door opens up here in the conventional sliding manner.

The Toyota Sienta boasts of the same kind of execution for the tail lamps as seen for the front headlamps. The tail lamps get the same boomerang-shaped LED inserts and a curve flowing from its outer bottom edge towards the rear bumper.

The overall ride quality of the Toyota Sienta feels very comfortable, thanks to a supple suspension setup comprising of Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear. The Sienta handles like a car with its aerodynamic design and a lower centre of gravity, which negates the possibilities of body roll very much.

The Toyota Sienta shares its 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with the Vios sedan. The engine, which is available only with a CVT transmission as standard, breathes out 105 PS of maximum power output and 140 Nm of torque. While the refinement levels of this engine are very good, it does feel boring in the way its power is delivered.

The Toyota Sienta gets a basic set of safety features justifying its price positioning, including dual front and driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and reverse parking sensors with camera.

The Toyota Sienta is one of the funkiest and chic looking vehicles, which targets those young buyers who shy away from MPVs for being boring vehicles in general. The Sienta drives and handles pretty well for an MPV, and has a decent set of safety and convenience features to justify its mettle against the competition.
