Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 has been given a simple and classy interior layout theme, with sleekness and minimalism of the panels lending it a certain classiness.

Shared with the Mazda 2 hatchback, the CX-3 shares its three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with silver-finished lower spoke as well as the three-part instrument console with an analog central tachometer and digital panels flanking it for other details.

The dashboard of the Mazda CX-3 features round propeller-like AC vents at corners as well as the centre console. The upper part of the dashboard gets a free mounted trapezoidal-shaped infotainment system in the middle.

For an entry-level crossover, the Mazda CX-3 gets plenty of features on board, such as automatic climate control, push-button start with keyless entry, cruise control, height adjustment for driver’s seat, and tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel.

The compact size and curvy theme of the Mazda CX-3 are in such a way that it does bot give a full-fledged SUV appeal to it. However, this very sleek design and heightened stance do give it an appealing look.

The familiar Mazda-esque face consisting of a large rounded grille with tapered edges is here finished in chrome and gets proportional assistance of a pair of sleek trapezoidal headlamps. These headlamps have rounded edges and are placed just adjacent to the grille, thus giving a smart and wide appeal to the front fascia.

Looking it from the side, the Mazda CX-3 appears to be a slightly heightened hatchback on stilts, which is all down due to the high ground clearance complimented with tough-looking side body molding. This same molding also features a very sleek looking chrome garnish.

The Mazda CX-3 looks very aerodynamic for a crossover, due to the curved bonnet, window frame and fender above the front wheel arches. The CX-3 also gets a blackened and unique looking C-pillar design, thus giving it a floating roof design.

The rear profile of the Mazda CX-3 looks very sporty with curved rear windscreen as well as a large roof spoiler. The boot gets a pair of trapezoidal tail lamps mimicking the design of the headlamps with rounded edges. The rest of the boot lid looks simple with a clean design and a cladding on the rear bumper.

The Mazda CX-3 has been fitted with a slightly stiff setup for the suspension – Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam axle at the rear. The overall driving dynamics are more suited for urban driving. The crossover is fitted with 16-inch wheels, which aid in providing great ride and handling balance. 

Powering the Mazda CX-3 is a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine, which here in Singapore is available only with front wheel drive configuration. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and produces 156 PS of maximum power output and 206 Nm of torque output.

The Mazda CX-3 is kitted with all the safety essentials like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, electric parking brake, and reverse parking sensors with camera.

For an entry-level crossover, the Mazda CX-3 looks very stylish and has a smart road presence comparable to a midsize SUV. With all the essential comfort and convenience features as well as safety kit, the Mazda CX-3 feels urban and modern, and the youthful appeal of it feels even better with the way it drives. For all those who look for a premium hatchback, the Mazda CX-3 looks like a more appealing package.
