Rolls Royce Dawn and Wraith to be discontinued for Spectre

Rolls Royce Dawn and Wraith to be discontinued for Spectre

Rolls-Royce has finally announced that they will be discontinuing two of their long-standing models - the Wraith and the Dawn. This news is no big surprise since the automakers already withdrew them from the US lineup in April 2021.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will Rolls Royce discontinue the Wraith and Dawn?

As per the reports, Rolls Royce has already closed booking orders for the Wraith and Dawn. The production of these models is still underway for all backlog reservations with the last orders rolling out in early 2023 before launching the Spectre.
  • From what we can understand, discontinuing both vehicles is their strategy to focus more on their new electrification drive. After all, the automaker will be launching the fully electric Spectre soon.

Rolls Royce’s CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos told Autocar that they have already closed booking orders for these two vehicles. The only reason their production is still underway is to ensure that all backlog orders are cleared before they are taken off the market. The last orders will be rolling out in early 2023 before launching the Spectre. He also said that the Spectre would be taking the Wraith’s place in the upcoming lineup.

We assume that Rolls Royce decided to discontinue the vehicles due to the rising stringent regulations clashing with their ageing platforms. Thus, the luxury brand decided to withdraw these two and replace them with new-age electric vehicles.

For now, Royce is keeping the details about Spectre closely under wraps. But according to rumours, the luxury electric vehicle will have similar parts to the BMW iX M60. We might see a massive power output of 610 bhp and maximum torque of 1099 Nm.

The all-electric Spectre might also see a brand new Rolls Royce platform known as the Architecture of Luxury. This structure will be added to all the upcoming Royce electric vehicles as well. The carmaker revealed that the two-door coupe will have the stimulation of more than 400 years of use with global testing of 25 lakh kms.

Several rumours point towards a long sloping roofline, narrow greenhouse, and a split headlight for the upcoming vehicle. It will come with a fast-charging option and a good battery range. However, other battery details are still unavailable.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates!
