Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets updates for 2021

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of the few classic off-road SUVs that is rugged and luxurious at the same time. And it is only due to this reason the German luxury auto-giant has been regular with the updates.

Cometh September 1 and the buyers can get their hands on a slightly updated Mercedes Benz W464 G-Class. The updates include some new customisation options over the currently available ones. The new exterior kit will be made available via the G Manufaktur programme.

The list of new standard equipment that we were talking about for the new G-Class includes floor mats and parking packages. Adding onto the list of equipment, we have a frameless rearview mirror, and a widescreen digital vision at the front, for adding an element of luxury.

As you upgrade the standard variant with one of the interior packages, you will like the addition of the silver chrome to the switches of the power window. The upgrade also brings in Dinamica microfibre based sun-visors.

With the inclusion of basic ultra guard vehicle protection package and the premium version, the anti-theft protection is well covered up. These features provide an accurate location of the stolen vehicle. According to the new changes, a four-wheeler enthusiast can opt for a night package without really giving up the move of pairing it up with the stainless steel package and AMG line.

The choice of night package brings to the fore plenty of new features like darkened turn signal lamps, headlamps, and reversing lamps. It also brings some additional exterior updates like heat-insulated dark tinted glass, radiator grill, and an obsidian black finish mirror.

If you have ordered the matte Magno paint finish, there is an option of configuring the package with the night Magno package. So to maintain consistency, the add-on parts have a night-black Magno finish.

The AMG line gets the exclusivity of including five twin-spoke light-alloy wheels of 20-inch which hold on to the road regardless of the ruggedness of the terrain. Further, you can choose the color, either you can opt for Himalayan grey or a high gloss black.

As for the model changes, the German automaker has discontinued the previous “Stronger Than Time” special edition model. This makes way for the free availability of the G 400d, which earlier had a restricted rollout.

The G400d is powered by OM656 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel engine that churns up a maximum power of 326 hp and a peak torque of 700 Nm. Meanwhile, the younger sibling G350d, diesel engine generates a power of 282 hp and a torque of 600 Nm.

The top-end variant in the G-class section AMG G 63, has a  powerhouse source in the form of an M177 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine. It can conjure up a maximum power of 577 hp and a peak torque of 850 Nm.

The automaker has announced these changes for the European model.
