Touareg Overview

Positioned along the lines of stalwarts of premium luxury full-size SUVs, the Volkswagen Touareg serves as the flagship model from the German carmaker here in Singapore. With three different variants on offer, namely Atmosphere, Elegance and R-Line, the Volkswagen Touareg can be had in only one engine and gearbox combination. There are a total of twelve colour options in Volkswagen Touareg – Antimonial Silver, Aquamarine Blue, Juniper Green, Malbec Red, Reef Blue, Sand Gold, Silicon Grey, Tamarind Brown, Black, Deep Black, Moonlight Blue and Oryx White.

Volkswagen Touareg Interior & Features

Among all the Volkswagens, the Touareg sets itself apart with multiple interior themes on offer to select from – Soul Black, Raven Grey and Atacama Beige. The three-spoke multi-functional flat-bottom steering wheel is here in its tweaked form and so is the 12-inch full TFT instrument console.

However, what manages to catch your attention the most is the massive 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the centre console, the whole of which is slightly tilted towards the driver side. The rectangular layer in the middle of the dashboard, which also houses the AC vents, make the cabin look plush and premium.

There are additional AC vents placed below the infotainment system, below which flows the high mounted transmission tunnel housing a range of controls, including the short gear lever. The cabin is stuffed with exclusive features like multi-colour ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control with air cleaning function, heated, ventilated and powered front seats with memory and massage functions, 13-speaker premium audio system, electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery and many more.

Touareg Exterior

This new latest iteration of the Volkswagen Touareg has ditched the bulbous and curvy profile of its previous iteration and now wear a much sleeker and glitzier personality.

The front fascia of the Volkswagen Touareg gets a very sharp looking chrome grille, which looks huge due to the presence of multiple chrome slats stacked one over the other. The full LED headlamps of the Touareg lool like an integral part of the front grille, as it is partly engulfed on the upper edges of the grille. A sleek chrome lining flows below the central air dam on the front bumper, with C-shaped housings for the corners of the front bumper rounding off the aggressive-looking front.

The Volkswagen Touareg looks huge from the sides, thanks to the elevated stance and large 20-inch machined alloy wheels. Apart from that, the Volkswagen Touareg looks quite simple here, with a sharp crease flowing from front fender to the rear, with a hint of curviness over the wheel arches.

The rear profile of the Volkswagen Touareg looks sleeker when compared to the rest of the profiles, with the large angular LED tail lamps with their split design catching your attention in the otherwise simple looking rear end. The wide ‘Touareg’ lettering in the middle of the boot lid above the lowered license plate housing and the sleek chrome garnish at the bottom of the boot add some more richness to the rear design.

Volkswagen Touareg Ride & Handling

The five-link Macpherson struts at the front and five-link rear axle at the back of the Volkswagen Touareg are air controlled, which in sync with the dynamic damping control with Normal, Comfort, Off-road and Special Off-road drive modes work fantastically in giving a calm and composed character to the SUV across all terrains. The all-wheel steering, as well as a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, also play a major role in making the Touareg a go-anywhere vehicle.

Touareg Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Volkswagen Touareg sources its thrust from a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with an all-wheel-drive configuration as well as 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. This powertrain makes a healthy power output of 340 PS and a maximum torque output of 450 Nm.

Volkswagen Touareg Braking & Safety

With the best of safety features including front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control with anti-slip regulation, electric parking brake, electronic stability program, electronic differential lock, driver fatigue detection system, hill descent control, emergency assist, front assist with city emergency brake and pedestrian monitoring functions, front and rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, lane assist with adaptive lane guidance, traffic jam assist and 360-degree reverse camera, the Volkswagen Touareg is the safest vehicle from Volkswagen with the most extensive list.

Touareg Verdict

Compared to the best of luxury SUVs from other German carmakers, the Volkswagen Touareg comes out as an underrated option, which has the ability to massively impress you with its exuberant appeal and fine mechanical arrangement, making it one of the most ultimate SUVs in the world.

I recently became the proud owner of the new Volkswagen Touareg and I must say I am very happy with my purchase. What led me to purchase the third-gen Touareg is its amazing power and driving experience it promises. The super-light and super-stiff underpinnings do make this SUV extremely easy to handle and a joy to ride. It is certainly Read More

When I first went to the showroom to take a look at Touareg, I swear I was awestruck. It looked much more exuberant in real life than on the website. Not just looks-wise, it's good, the performance of the car is also superb. It has a massive 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system placed precisely in the middle of the center console, Read More

I am just a huge fan of how Volkswagen tunes its cars to be smooth. I won’t mind saying this, no one would understand how driving a Volkswagen feels like until you drive one. I owned a Polo hatchback in the past and then upgraded to the Touareg SUV as I had grown in confidence with the brand. I have Read More
