Positioned between the entry-level X1 SUV and the midsize X3, the BMW X2 has been introduced to lure the young generation buyers with its form-over-function essence. The stylish crossover from BMW, the X2 has been made available in Singapore in two different variants – M Sport Lite and M Sport X, both of which get a common petrol automatic powertrain.
As youthful and distinctive as the BMW X2 projects itself from the outside, the interior cabin of the crossover feels much more subtle and mature, just like that of the X1. There are a number of design elements in the cabin of the X2 which have been shared with other BMW offerings like the three-spoke round themed multi-functional steering wheel and round themed analog instrument console (which looks a bit boring when compared to the rest of the car’s design).
Even the center console seeks a lot of inspiration from other BMWs, with a trapezoidal theme carried out for the free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, AC vents below it, and the lower center console which boasts of an array of controls for the dual-zone automatic climate control as well as the audio system. The all-black cabin is being offered as standard fitment, though the customers have the option of customizing the interior upholsteries and trims as per their requirement.
BMW has been pitching the X2 as a stylish crossover, with the main intent to make it slightly more appealing and youthful in its persona over the more mature looking X1, above which it has been placed. With that essence, the BMW X2 succeeds quite a bit, as its sporty and quite low slung stance for a crossover does catch attention.
The front fascia of the BMW X2 has got the trademark double kidney grille, which has tapered outer edges and gets chrome surrounds with vertical slats in them. The eyebrow shaped headlamp units get dual LED projectors with characteristic daytime running LEDs around them. There is a heavy silver-finished cladding just below the grille, which surrounds the lower part of the grille in the bumper. Another interesting design element in the front bumper happens to be the triangular air vents on the sides of the bumper.
The side profile of the BMW X2 looks quite athletic for a crossover, with a slightly low slung stance and unique design elements, the latter of which includes a broad C-pillar with BMW logo on it, body-colored side scuff plates, and heavy silver cladding around the wheel arches and at the bottom of the doors.
At the back, the BMW X2 sources some inspiration from the gran coupes of BMW, with a cleaner boot lid having a stubby design with long and curvy looking LED tail lamps. The roof-mounted big spoiler as well as heavy silver-colored cladding at the bottom of the rear bumper accentuate the sporty aura of the X2 even more.
Matching the overall sporty visual appeal of the BMW X2 is its dynamic mechanical setup under the skin, as the crossover is equipped with BMW’s capable M-Sport suspension setup, which is renowned for offering a pure driving pleasure with great levels of stability. The suspension, though on a firmer side, results in a slightly stiff ride quality.
The Singapore-spec BMW X2 is available with just one petrol engine and automatic transmission combination, which here is the company’s smallest engine – 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine – paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of putting up 140 PS of maximum power and 220 Nm of maximum torque output.
The BMW X2 has been equipped with decent levels of safety features, the list of which includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist and reverse camera.
The BMW X2 might not be a highly practical vehicle for daily urban usage, for the crossover lacks in terms of rear-seat space as well as firm ride quality it offers. However, for an entry-level crossover, the BMW X2 impresses a lot with its style statement as well as thrilling driving appeal behind the steering wheel.
The X2 is a vehicle that combines the practicality of an SUV with the comfort and performance of a sedan. The modern design of this crossover is sure to steal attention on the streets. The cabin is very spacious, but there are other competitors in the market that can carry tall passengers with a lot more ease. This crossover features
This sleek and stylish car can win hearts with its magnanimous presence merely. The distinguished style statement of this BMW vehicle can easily perplex any car enthusiast. Moreover, the car is offering astounding performance to drool over. I found its interior lacks practicality and is somewhat snug. Even then its fun-loving approach will hook its buyers to keep on driving

I have been driving around a BMW X2 for about eight months now, and I think I speak for all when saying that certain styling features of the car can be traced back to X1. However, that is not an issue because the fastback roofline found in BMW X2 distinguishes it from its predecessor. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine found in

The BMW X2 is essentially a fraternal twin of the X1. With a tiny glasshouse, cab-rewarded profile and metallic yellow color, the X2 looks very much like a sporty SUV. The 1.5-litre engine with 140PS isn’t exactly quick. But it’s the cornering part where the X2 is a real performer. Unlike the X1, the X2 can negotiate corners with much
Its been almost three months that I have been owning the stylish BMW X2 and I must say that this car is one of the best SUVs in the market. If you want to make a list of all the good things about this car, then it will be a pretty long list. The X2 gets a powerful 1.5-litre mill
