Third-generation Isuzu MU-X received a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating

The third-generation of the Isuzu MU-X has gathered the attention of the fans for all the right reasons. The model has been successful in collecting five-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP safety tests.

The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) is the newest addition to the NCAP family. This programme is dedicated to evaluating the vehicle safety standards by adding several crash tests, in and around the vehicle. The unit aims to raise consumer awareness and promote automakers to make a more reliable offering for those regions.

Coming to the MU-X’s performance over the NCAP, the car received five stars, according to the extended safety results of the D-Max crash test that happened in January. The tests’ results conclude that the car has picked up its strong structure from the second-generation D-Max in terms of the crash, allowing the carmaker to carry a seamless performance across their restraint system across generations.

In the adult occupation protection (AOP) category, the results came out to be around 30.36, out of 36 possible points that make it a reliable vehicle for performance in Asia. Further, the car marks a reduced head protection technology (HPT), receiving a total of two out of four points, counting for the primary difference along with similar results across the off-set deformable barrier (ODB) and side-impact tests.

However, Isuzu seems to have done a commendable performance when it comes to the child occupant protection (COP) parameter. The MU-X was able to grab a recorded score of 44.37, out of a total of 49 points. This score was indeed better and higher than the D-Max at 42.78 points.

Further, the SUV was also way ahead of the D-Max in terms of its safety assist test. Some of the variants offered with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) make the car a more reliable offering compared to the likes of the former pick-up truck. As a result of which, the vehicle was able to receive 15.85 out of 18 points.
