Mercedes-Benz EQT electric van revealed

Mercedes-Benz EQT electric van revealed

After almost a year of teasing the T-Class, Mercedes-Benz is back with a new, upgraded concept car that highlights its vision for the future, called ‘EQT’. It is an all-electric MPV that provides us with a first-hand preview of the upcoming compact T-Class on which it is based.

Mercedes’ upcoming MPV will be the second out of all the five models that are yet to be launched in the EQ family. Interestingly, the upcoming MPV won’t only be limited to an electric variant, as the T-Class will offer petrol and diesel options as well.

From what seems to be based on the Renault Kangoo Electric, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQT, in its production stage, will be carrying the styling and design philosophy from the current concept. The core focus of the concept car here is to redefine luxury via different elements, spread on the exterior and interior of the car.

The exterior styling of the showcased concept is premium, highlighting a low-sitting stance for the MPV. Besides the stance, the car gets sleek LED headlights and sliding rear doors on both sides. Further, the grille design of the car is also closed front. Overall, the exterior styling of the Mercedes-Benz EQT van resonates with some strong muscular lines, paired with bulky shoulders.

Moving in, the concept’s dashboard fails to pick up the opulence of a similar EQ model, but the interior of the car is a functional one that carries the USP of a floating screen, integrated with MBUX and a dashboard-mounted gear-lever. Further, the vehicle gives out no digital display. However, the steering wheel inside the car remains similar to the outgoing C-Class.

While there are no technical details on the car, we might see the production version paired to an electric motor and 45-kWh battery, churning out a 99 hp and 245 Nm of peak torque. The other two mill offerings are also expected to provide the car with a similar performance level.

Mercedes has planned to unveil the T-Class first and then its electric variant EQT.
