Jeep reveals the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe

Showcasing its next move towards electrification, Jeep unveiled the Grand Cherokee 4xe during the Stellantis’ electrification strategy event. This keeps up the brand's promises of introducing a plug-in hybrid version of its luxury SUV, as committed while unveiling the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee earlier in January.

Looking at the automaker’s appeal to create a lineup that will be producing a zero-emissions mandate, the automaker is preparing to sell electrified models in every SUV segment to align with the mandate by 2025. Interestingly, it is for the first time that the Grand Cherokee, one of the most premium models of the Jeep lineup, will be getting an electrified powertrain. 

While the automaker did not provide us with any specific information around the powertrain of its new electrified offering, it does confirm that it will be releasing every bit about the car at its official unveiling at the 2021 New York International Auto Show, to be held at the end of August.

Some sources around the internet suggest that the automaker will be powering its upcoming hybrid offering with the existing plug-in hybrid system that is currently available on the Wrangler 4xe variant that came out the previous year. Talking of the technical specifications of the model, the 2.0L turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine is backed up with the help of two electric motors that are able to churn out a peak output of 369 hp in terms of its power and around 637 Nm of peak torque.

Other than the upcoming hybrid model, Jeep also introduced us to some futuristic tech pieces that it will be introducing by 2025, adding to the experience of its owners. The tech features will add to the driving experience and make driving more adventurous for Jeep enthusiasts. 

Some of the upcoming tech pieces include off-road trails, solar charging stations, drone pairing capabilities, and autonomous remote off-road functionality among others. 

Lastly, looking at the automaker’s plans for the future, it is only a matter of time to see what it has to offer.
