Ssangyong Musso Sport

The cabin of the Ssangyong Musso Sports is completely shared with the Rexton SUV, which makes it one of the plushest and most feature-rich cabins in the lifestyle pickup truck segment. The cabin looks nice and premium with its dual-tone black and brown leather upholstery.

The three-spoke steering wheel and the instrument console have a simple and elegant design, with the latter having a colored TFT screen in the middle for the MID unit. The center console here looks broad with a large trapezoidal housing for the infotainment system, which is flanked with vertically laid AC vents having silver surrounds.

The lower layer of the dashboard is completely finished in soft-touch brown colored leather, which houses the wide looking panel for the dual-zone automatic climate control and a push start-stop button beside it. The cabin is very spacious for five people, with the small hump for the transmission tunnel giving enough room for the middle passenger at the back.

The Ssangyong Musso Sports shares much of its design with the Rexton SUV, especially till the B-pillar on the side. The Musso Sports looks decent and muscular enough for a ladder-on-frame pickup truck of this class, and thanks to large dimensions, has got enough street cred too.

The front look of the Ssangyong Musso Sports is quite bold with a sleek and big trapezoidal grille, with a thin strip of chrome running across its center width. The upper edges of this grille make way for large wing-like headlamps with curved outer boundaries. These headlamps come with daytime running LEDs and conventional halogen projectors. The X-themed front bumper gets bog fog lamp housings on the corners, with round fog lamps present inside them.

The side profile of the Ssangyong Musso Sports looks huge due to the long wheelbase and upright stance of the SUV with a lifted-up front bonnet. There are prominent squared bulges over the wheel arches of the Ssangyong Musso Sports, which accentuate its muscular appeal even more. The design for the alloy wheels, however, looks very plain.

At the rear, the Ssangyong Musso Sports has got vertical tail lamps like all the other lifestyle pickup trucks. However, here, the tail lamps have tapered upper and lower edges, which make them look sharp. Another interesting character of the rear profile is the bulging out centre part of the boot lid, thus giving it an impression of a hump.

The Ssangyong Musso Sports is built on an old-school ladder-on-frame chassis, which can make the ride quality feel stiff and bouncy at times. There is a hint of body roll too, however, the Musso Sports feels tough and has the go-anywhere essence in its heft and driving appeal.

All the variants of the Ssangyong Musso Sports are powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is shared with the Rexton SUV. Here in Musso Sports, this engine breathes out 181 bhp of maximum power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is available with the options of a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations in which it is available.

The Ssangyong Musso Sports is equipped with a range of standard safety features, such as six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rear camera, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and traction control.

Since it shares much of its exterior and interior with the Rexton SUV, the Ssangyong Musso Sports feels one segment above than the rest when it comes to premium appeal and features onboard. The diesel engine is refined and decently powerful and it feels solid on tougher terrains as well.
