Renault Kangoo

While the Renault Kangoo tries to catch your fancy with its basic yet quirky design on the inside, the interior cabin seems to miss out on the effort to make you feel a bit special. The overall layout of the cabin finished in an all-black theme, looks too basic and outdated.

The interior cabin of the Renault Kangoo is divided into two parts – a closed two-seater cabin for the driver and co-passenger, and a dedicated load compartment behind it. The passenger cabin of the Renault Kangoo gets a very simple looking layout, consisting of a three-spoke steering wheel, a simple looking fully analog instrument console and a rounded themed center console, getting air conditioner vents and controls just below it and a single din music system at the bottom of it.

At the top of the center console sits a separate panel for display of digital clock, while the co-passenger side of the dashboard looks quite huge with a closed glove box at its bottom.

The Renault Kangoo has got quite an impressive stance and the van looks quite large on the outside, thus giving an impression of a large vehicle. However, it is nowhere a premium vehicle, with the Kangoo getting a very basic design with a hint of quirkiness to it, the latter aspect of which can fetch it a second glance.

At the front, the Renault Kangoo has a slim front grille consisting of flowing down chrome element with a Renault logo in the middle. The upswept headlamps at the corners of the grille are large, but do miss out on the modern LED lighting elements and are basic halogen units. The entire massive front bumper has been left unpainted here, which does make the Renault Kangoo look very frills-free and built to cost when viewed head-on.

The side profile of the Renault Kangoo has got quite an imposing stance to it, thanks to a generous amount of length and height. However, the relatively tinier set of alloy wheels and a boxy design does make it look typically van-like. The flared wheel arches over the wheels try to induce some amount of muscularity in the design of the Kangoo. The van gets sliding doors with black finished door handles and covered window panels.

At the back, the Renault Kangoo has its vertical corners finished in an all-black theme, which also incorporate the vertically laid tail lamps. This whole design merges with the black unpainted rear bumper, at the corners of which reflectors are placed. The asymmetric design for the rear doors, along with an offset placement for the license plate housing matches its overall quirky appeal.

The Renault Kangoo is a boxy commercial vehicle, so expecting fantastic driving dynamics from it is quite silly. There is a considerable amount of body roll when you push it hard, however, the Pseudo Macpherson struts at the front and semi-stiff suspension at the rear, do absorb undulations and rough roads with ease.

The Renault Kangoo sources its power from a very tractable 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is mated to a rather premium 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. The engine is capable enough to produce a maximum power output of 110 PS, while the peak torque is rated at 250 Nm.

The basic safety equipment list of the Renault Kangoo does include the likes of a dual front airbag arrangement, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control with anti-slip regulation and traction control.

The overall boxy styling, as well as basic appeal in terms of design and features, does make the Renault Kangoo a typical commercial van – boring in its appeal. However, what works in the favor of the Renault Kangoo is its tractable engine and robust chassis, both of which work together to make it a very practical vehicle for load-carrying duties.
